ESN INTO offers a lending service for household equipment for all international students at Hervanta Campus. Our service is mainly reserved for students studying at Hervanta Campus, if you are studying at the center campus you should check out the starting kit service by ESN FINT! There are two different sets that can be borrowed, as well as some extra items.

A small service fee is charged for the starting kits (5€), an addition to the deposit (20€). The deposit is returned to the student completely once the items are returned in their initial condition (clean and dry). When returning the kit, we will inspect the set and deduct money from the deposit if necessary.

Utensils borrowing and returning sessions are organized usually at the beginning and the end of each semester. The dates are announced via the club's official communication channels, but usually also Facebook. The sets are given out on a first-come-first-serve system.

  • Treat the utensil with care
  • We recommend to wash all items before first use
  • Do not use metallic cutlery in Teflon-coated pots and pans (it will break the pan and eating Teflon is not healthy). Use wooden or plastic spatulas instead.
  • Use covers for pillows and blankets, as well as bed linen on the mattress
  • Before you return the items please clean them and make sure they are dry and grease-free.

Utensils returning sessions will be organized at the end of each semester. The dates are, again, announced via the club's official communication channels, but usually also Facebook.

Renting and Return Session

The dates will be announced on our website, on Facebook, the notice boards, etc. For the return session you will also receive the dates via email. We are planning the session usually a few weeks in advance, but not month. In order to rent or RETURN your items, you have to come to one of the sessions - the starting kit service is not available throughout the whole semester during office hours or some such. More FAQ

Q: Can I reserve a set for myself before coming to Finland?
A: No, you need to come to one of the borrowing sessions. No reservation and first-come-first-serve, unfortunately.

Q: What do you recommend to do, if you run out and I do not get a set?
A: The cheapest option is probably IKEA, which you can reach from Hervanta with bus 5.

Q: I broke on of the glasses in the kitchen set, but would have another spare one. Will you deduct from my deposit?
A: No, as long as there is all the items in reasonable shape in the set, we don't know the difference between the original items and replaced ones. You have to decide if it's better to replace the broken item yourself, or let us replace it with (a small part) of your deposit money.
